VACATION ?

I seem to occasionally have these lags in my posting...sometimes without good excuses....but this time I have a great excuse....I'm on vacation, well at least that's the idea. Over the past few weeks I have been working on getting all my work caught up and so the family and me could go down to our ancestrial home in North Carolina. Although I'm going to be sneaking in some classes at John C. Campbell, it's also a good time for me to recharge my batteries and rest up for the push of work coming later this summer.

I miss not being out in my shop...but I am seeing more inspiration, and having a great time! As I write this I'm down in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, soaking up the rain, sun, ocean, sights, sounds, and everything else that I can. So far I've managed to attend the Annual Southern Highlands Craft Guild show where I saw outstanding crafts people and observed some metal workers. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Outdoor Lost Colony Symphonic Play. It was as fantastic as I remember from my youth. We also got to tour the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk. On the memorial I snapped a photo of some interesting door pulls which you see posted here. I've also managed to sneak away long enough to go up to Kayne and Sons (the Blacksmith's Depot) where I picked up some new tools and had a chance to see the new induction forge the guys were working on. I've got some other projects I finished before I went on vacation to post as soon as I can. Till then I'm roaming around here in the southland. More posts to come!
